Happy new year to us all!  I hope you will find lots of interest in U3A this year.
As you can see from the attached Logan class listed updated today, we have heaps of new classes and old ones where new enrolments are welcomed.  You can enrol via the website, but I recommend contacting the tutors or group organisers to discuss their classes first. 
Please forward this to anyone who may be interested, and tell your friends who do not have email or website access about U3A, and particularly about the two brand new classes which are not listed on the printed Class Schedule or the flyers currently displayed in libraries and seniors centres.  Please mention too that tutors are usually happy to have non-members attend their first session prior to joining U3A in order to see if they want to continue.

New classes not listed on the printed Class Schedule
COMPUTER DISCUSSION GROUP in Beenleigh  We now have the use of a room at Beenleigh State High School and are keen to encourage tutors to offer and members to attend classes there.  It is suitable for any kind of class.  This term Ron Grauff will be continuing his very popular monthly computer discussion group (now at 2 pm on the first Monday of each month). Jiri Arnost will start a Computer class for complete beginners using the Windows 7 operating system on Fridays.  Contributions of unwanted computer equipment or an old TV set would be appreciated.
BACKGAMMON and/or CHESS FOR BEGINNERS  - Tutor:  Mark Keeff   3287 7422, Email  Mark is wheelchair bound so it would be convenient to hold classes at his home in Cornubia on Wednesday  mornings.  Depending on enrolment numbers, Mark will teach both of these games or just one of them, so contact Mark asap if you are interested.
NEW TOPICAL DISCUSSION GROUP -  Organiser: Heather Burney  3800 1259, Mobile 0420 903895  Email:    This is a brand new group on Friday mornings, and will be an ideal way to make friends and talk about topics that interest you.  There will be lots of laughs as well as serious discussion. Contact Heather for venue details. 
CREATE AN ONLINE BLOG       Bill Bohlen 3208 3729, Email:  Want to create a personal blog on the World Wide Web? Blogs can be about what happens in the blogger’s life or revolve around a particular interest. In a 4 week course on Wednesdays at 10 at the tutor's home in Daisy Hill, students will learn to create, publish and maintain their own Google blog to share with family and friends. A laptop will be needed.  Contact tutor for more details.
Notes re particular Classes
Learn to play the Ukulele – Garold, the tutor, is away until shortly before class starts, so contact Kevin for information, on 3341 6391  Or just turn up on the day.  There will be only one term of tuition but those who wish to can join the Carry on Ukulele Group at the same time and place.  
Photoshop Elements Beginners:  Those who expressed interest are asked to contact the tutor in good time to obtain notes about the course and especially about purchasing the software.
Opera Appreciation is listed as on Tuesday mornings, but Clarice is willing to consider other days, including Saturdays if this suits would-be students.  The  course will examine a broad spectrum of the opera, including many lesser-known composers, with video and audio extracts. Clarice Williams lives and breathes opera.  She is a professional opera singer who has performed  in major European cities, including London, Vienna and,. Madrid, as well as the Sydney Opera House and other Australian centres.  She is a charismatic tutor who can tell some amazing stories about what goes on backstage so this will be an entertaining as well as informative course. Come along and enjoy the fun in the comfortable lounge room at Tall Trees, Tanah Merah.
